    Composed the musical scores for films such as 'East of Eden (1955),' 'Rebel Without a Cause (1955),' 'Fantastic Voyage (1966),' 'Barry Lyndon (1975),' 'Bound for Glory (1976),' and 'Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)'
    Composed music for the television series 'The Defenders,' 'The Twilight Zone,' 'Gibbsville,' and 'Marcus Welby M.D.'

Why he might be annoying:

    He experimented with LSD.
    He claimed that he tried the illegal drug because Aldous Huxley told him, 'You owe it to yourself to try it.'
    He composed music for the critically panned 1980 remake of 'The Jazz Singer.'
    He didn't marry until his late sixties.
