Why he might be annoying:

His Globetrotter nickname was 'The Clown Prince.'
He endorsed practically ANYTHING: Footlocker, Burger King, Pepsi Cola, Dr. Pepper, Band-Aid, Safeway Food Stores, Boeing Aircraft, Revlon, Quencher Gum, Charmin, Nike shoes, Rawlings basketballs, the U.S. Postal Service and the Yellow Pages.
After 15 years he rejoined the Globetrotters for 50 games in 1994 before going back to his Harlem All Stars team.
His wife is a naturopathy doctor that forgoes traditional treatment in favor of a holistic approach.

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up in poverty where his first basketball was a milk can and hoop was an onion sack on a coat hanger.
He spent two years in the U.S. Armed Forces before joining the Globetrotters.
He specialized in half court hook shots and no-look, wrap-around passes.
He left before the team made the dreadful 1981 TV movie 'The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island.'
In 1989 he founded Camp Meadowlark, a co-ed sports youth camp that offers children alternatives to the dangers of substance abuse, stating 'If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.'
He has been elected to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame (1975) and to the NBA Hall of Fame (2003).
He is arguably the most beloved Globetrotter of all time.
Sportswriter Jim Murray said about him, 'He did more for basketball than 10 seasons of the Boston Celtics.'
