    Youngest son of Genghis Khan
    Grandfather of Kublai Khan
Fought against Jin Empire (1213), Xi Xia (1227), and Khorasan (1221)
    Regent of Mongol Empire (1227-1229)
He was too young to fight in battles when his father was conquering.
His name is sometimes spelled as ‘Tului’ or ‘Toluy’.
He ordered the captures and massacres of Merv and Nishapur.
He was too cautious to rule despite his superb military skill as a general, so his father picked his brother Ögedei as successor.
The Persian historian Ata al-Mulk Juvayni said that he died from alcoholism.
At age five, he was almost killed by a Tartar, but was rescued by his sister and two of his father’s companions.
He is a direct ancestor of most Mongolian Emperors.
In one version of his death, his brother Ögedei got sick, so he volunteered to sacrifice his life for his brother’s by drinking a poisonous drink.
