The Resume

Why Diff'rent Strokes might be annoying:

They didn't even bother to hide the fact that the show was really all about Gary Coleman.
The 'Willis' character was there primarily so Gary Coleman could say, 'Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis?' and sell a few t-shirts.
What kind of television theme is written by Alan Thicke?
Gary Coleman ended up suing his parents for the money he made from the show.
Almost all of the cast members were suicidal and depressed, yet they put on their happy faces for the cameras.
Nancy Reagan infamously made a guest appearance on the show and announced: 'Let me tell you a true story about a boy we'll call Charlie. He was only 14 and he was burned out on marijuana... One day, when his little sister wouldn't steal some money for him to go and buy some more drugs, he brutally beat her. The real truth is there's no such thing as soft drugs and hard drugs. All drugs are dumb... Don't end up another Charlie.'
Dana 'Charlie' Plato would later die of drug abuse.
Some of those associated with the show reported widespread drug use and abuse backstage.
The show has ruined any slim chance Gary Coleman might have had to get laid.
They would cast their special guest stars in absurd roles, like Kareem-Abdul Jabbar as a teacher and Gordon Jump as a child molester.
The child molester episode with Gordon Jump is considered by many to be one of the worst 'a very special...' episodes in the history of television.

Why Diff'rent Strokes might not be annoying:

Its theme is uplifting and discourages unilateralism.
Mr. T made a guest appearance.
If you have a bizarre hatred for the letter 'e' you might like the title.
Sometimes the 1980s hairstyles managed to distract from the terrible scripts.
It (unintentionally) illustrated the hypocrisies of the conservative 1980s.
It has a strong cult following.
Unless the 1980s are reinstalled onto America by a fascist power, it is never coming back.
