When Esquire Magazine rejected one of his pieces, he sank into a deep depression and didn't write for six years.
He was divorced.
He was arrested for drunk driving (1948).
He was arrested for possessing illegal firearms and narcotics (1949).
He 'accidentally' shot and killed his wife (1951).
Originally, his book, 'Naked Lunch,' was considered obscene.
