    (1942-May 19, 1991)
    Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi
Recorded the duets '(You're) Having My Baby,' 'One Man Woman/One Woman Man,' 'I Don't Like To Sleep Alone' and '(I Believe) There's Nothing Stronger Than Our Love' with Paul Anka
Died of breast cancer at age 49
After quitting a local Watts, CA band called Brotherly Love, she formed a girl band called Sisters Love.
When family friend Edwin Hawkins got her an audition with Anka, she thought she bombed (his calm demeanor threw her) and she went on vacation.
It took Anka over a week to find her and offer her work.
Her late '70s solo efforts, the Anka penned 'Make It Up To Me In Love' (a 'One Man Woman' follow-up) and an ELO remake of 'Showdown' failed to generate interest and she retired back to gospel singing.
Her gospel roots and powerful voice made it easy for her to crossover into the pop/rock world.
Before they became famous, she did session work with Sly and the Family Stone.
She had three Top 10 hits with Anka, including '(You're) Having My Baby,' which spent three weeks at #1 in 1974.
'(You're) Having My Baby' was supposed to be an Anka solo work but a record exec suggested she would be a perfect fit for the song (he was spot on right).
After the recording, she and Anka became lifelong friends until cancer silenced her golden voice.
