    He balked at getting drafted by the Clippers.
    He elected to play the 1989-90 season in Italy, which forced the Clippers to trade his rights.
    Despite posting stellar numbers at Duke, he failed to live up to his draft billing and potential at the NBA level.
    His dismissal as the Cavs general manager was a result of his failure to re-sign LeBron James.
    He made racially insensitive remarks regarding Luol Deng in a conference call with the team's owner Bruce Levenson, citing he was 'a guy who would have a nice store out front and sell you counterfeit stuff out of the back.' (September 9, 2014).

    He is the son of former NBA player and executive Bob Ferry.
    He left the Cavaliers as the franchise's all time leader in career games played with the franchise.
    He was the first player in ACC history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in his collegiate career.
    He earned the Naismith College Player of the Year award, while playing at Duke (1989).
    He finished his NBA career as a member of the Spurs team that won their second championship (2003).
