    (July 25, 1908-June 10, 1997)
    Born in Knox County, Indiana
    Baptist minister
Recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for the largest number of monogamous marriages: 29
His shortest marriage lasted 19 days.
He remarried three of his exes.
He was much older than his spouses. (In the most extreme example, he married a teenager from the Philippines shortly before his 80th birthday.)
He claimed to have divorced one of his wives because she ate sunflower seeds in bed and divorced another for using his toothbrush.
One of his exes noted, ‘A lot of the girls, he forgot their names.’
His last marriage was a publicity stunt arranged by the National Enquirer in which he wed the world’s most married woman, Linda Essex: he was her 23rd husband.
A week after the wedding, Essex returned to her hometown in Indiana. (Although she did remain married to him until his death a year later.)
None of his wives and only one of his 19 (or possibly more) children attended his funeral.
    He was widowed five times.
He said, ‘Being married was the greatest thing in the world.’
His last wife said, ‘He was a charmer.’
