U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (February 27, 1958- )
    Born in Boston, Massachusetts
    Birth name is Margaret Wood
    Democrat
    Governor of New Hampshire (2013-2016)
Served in the New Hampshire Senate (2005-2010)
Elected to the US Senate, unseating Republican incumbent Kelly Ayotte in a tight race (2016)

Why she might be annoying:

Her own supporters admitted she was unexciting as a candidate.
Her campaign was dogged by claims that she helped cover for a teacher accused of sexual misconduct, during her husband's tenure as school principal.
She claimed her top priorities as Senate-elect would be reproductive freedom and climate change (National security? Economic policy? Meh...)
She was accused helping to 'rig' the Democratic Primary process in favor of Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders by overriding the popular vote as a Super-Delegate voter.
James O'Keefe and Project Veritas released one of their trademark 'undercover videos' showing grassroots liberal activists making fun of her behind her back (saying she 'has no personality,' won't win her race, and is 'too moderate, not liberal enough').
She benefited from her her opponent making a last ditch effort to abandon her party's seemingly-toxic nominee nominee - one which backfired miserably (otherwise she might very well have retained her seat).
Her lead over Ayotte was so razor thin that it remained unclear who the decisive winner was until the next morning, when the incumbent officially conceded.

Why she might not be annoying:

Her eldest son was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
She graduated from Brown University before pursuing her Doctor of Law degree from Northwestern University, in 1985.
She first ran for the New Hampshire State Senate in 2002, but lost to Russell Prescott (she went on to win two years later).
She was known for promoting bipartisanship during her time as governor.
She is only the second woman to be elected governor of New Hampshire (after Gov. Jeanne Shaheen).
She was in the minority among Dems who backed Hillary Clinton's 2008 Presidential run, when the majority rank-and-file was in the tank for Barack Obama (Clinton would go on to win the New Hampshire primary).
She took heat for being the only Democratic governor to call for a temporary ban on Syrian refugees.
Her surprise Senate win was one of the few bright spots for the Democratic Party, which saw the ascendance of a Trump presidency with a Republican-controlled House and Senate.
Her father was Robert Wod, the 2nd-ever HUD Secretary, under President Johnson (incidentally the predecessor to Romney's dad who occupied the position and became a good friend of his).
