    He never takes responsibility for anything.
    His trademark quote is 'What me, Worry?'
    Ted Koppel, David Letterman, Jimmy Carter and George Bush copped his look.
    Mad magazine was sued twice for copyright infringement claiming copyright of Alfred E. Neuman going back to 1914 and 1936.
    Mad Magazine actually proved that the likeness and name goes back even further and thus those who sued did not originate the cartoon either.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is the trademark for one of the funniest parody magazine (since 1953).
    He has a humorist quote in every issue.
