Approved American-made constitution permitting occupation by U.S. Publicly repudiates divinity of the Emperor (1946)

Why he might be annoying:

Hirohito followed tradition and chose a name for his reign. His reign was called 'Showa,' or 'Radiating Peace.' However, he began a military buildup, which led to war in 1941 with the attack on Pearl Harbor after several attacks on China and a dream of Pacific domination.
Japan signed a pact with Nazi Germany and soon Japan became one of the axis powers. He also believed that Germany and Italy would win the war in Europe, but of course they didnt.
Hirohito had caused Japan to lose 2.3 million soldiers and 800,000 civilians in WW II.

Why he might not be annoying:

He broke the deadlock with Japanese leadership by advocating the end of WW II.
He realized his dream of visiting the United States in 1975, where he met John Wayne, was received by President Ford, and acquired a Mickey Mouse watch he wore for years.
Throughout WW II Hirohito maintained an interest in marine biology and various scientific areas.
He died of cancer in 1989.
