Why he might be annoying:

He made a fortune working in the slave importation market.
He was involved in illegal land speculation.
He had a bad temper and often got into brawls.
One of his fights turned into an all-out shooting match that left several people dead.
He is often credited with inventing the Bowie knife, but he actually only popularized it.
Legends that he wrestled alligators and tamed wild horses probably weren't true.
He foolishly decided to stay in Texas and fight the Mexican Army in a crumbling Spanish mission.

Why he might not be annoying:

The ladies loved him.
His charisma was legendary.
His wife and two kids died in a cholera outbreak (1833).
He was able to win one fight after being stabbed and shot.
He and 183 volunteers stationed at the Alamo mission to fight for Texan independence from Mexico.
He was killed when the Mexicans stormed the mission.
Popular legend states he was ill during the Alamo battle, but fought to the bitter end from his bed.
