    Performed on the Comedy Relief singles 'Is This the Way to Amarillo?' (with Tony Christie, 2005), 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' (with the Proclaimers and Matt Lucas, 2007), and 'I Know Him So Well' (with Susan Boyle, 2011)

    He did not go into comedy full time until the theater where he worked as an usher closed down.
    He appeared in ads for brewer John Smith despite being a teetotaler.
    After cancelling a tour, he was criticized when fans calling for refunds were charged 62p per minute for a premium phone line (2017).

    He was called 'simply Britain's best comedian' in The Independent on Sunday (2009).
    His 2010-11 standup tour was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the most successful ever in Britain, selling over 1.2 million tickets.
