Why Frankfurt, Germany might be annoying:

The Germans call it by its full name to avoid confusion with another German city named Frankfurt (Frankfurt an der Oder).
During the Thirty Year's War, it suffered from plagues because it opened its doors to refugees.
During the Nazi era, many synagogues in Frankfurt were destroyed.
It was bombed to pieces during WW II.
It has one of the busiest airports in Europe.

Why Frankfurt, Germany might not be annoying:

It was the electoral city of the Holy Roman Emperors.
It recovered quickly after WW II.
The three pillars of its economy are finance, fair trade, and transport.
It's the home of the Commerzbank Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Europe.
It has many cultural and educational institutions including many museums and its university Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität.
