Internet Personality
    (March 1, 1990-July 15, 2016)
Born in Shah Sadar Din, Pakistan
    Birth name was Fouzia Azeem
    Singer/model/feminist/social media personality
    Auditioned for ‘Pakistani Idol’ (2013)
Posted videos discussing her daily life and issues of the day
    Had 750,000 Facebook followers
Murdered by asphyxiation while asleep in her parents’ house
She got married at seventeen and left her husband (and their child) a little more than a year later.
She was compared to Kim Kardashian for her relentless self-promotion.
She said she would strip tease live online if Pakistan defeated India in the Twenty20 cricket match. (They lost.)
Ironically, she had moved back to her parents’ house for safety after receiving death threats.
While many of her posts – pouting at the camera, discussing hairstyles, or revealing celebrity crushes – were pretty typical of Facebook, in Pakistan they pushed the boundaries of what was considered acceptable behavior for a woman.
Her posts became more political over time.
A week before her death, she posted a music video, ‘Ban,’ mocking restrictions placed on women in Pakistan.
She said she left her husband because he was abusive.
She was murdered by her brother Waseem, who claimed she was ‘bringing disrepute to our family’s honor.’
Her father said Waseem had killed her for money.
