    (May 15, 1905-August 30, 1970)
Captured the only known movie camera film of the JFK assassination in Dallas (November 22, 1963)
Sold the footage to Life magazine for $150,000 ($25,000 a year over a six year period)
Died of a brain tumor at age 65
Many pronounce his name Za-PRU-der, while he insisted the stress should be on the first syllable, ZA-Pru-der.
His secretary had to hold him steady while he shot the film as he suffered from vertigo.
While his film had yet to be developed he went on live TV and told millions how he saw the president's head 'practically open up.'
He had nightmares about it and sold the film with the agreement that frame 313, the fatal head shot, would not be published (it showed up later).
After stating he heard a shot from behind him (the grassy knoll), during Warren Commission testimony his version changed and stated the sound echoed so he wasn't sure.
In 1920 he emigrated to the U.S. to escape the Russian Civil War.
He moved from Brooklyn to Dallas in 1941 and became a successful clothing manufacturer.
What he recorded has been one of the most frame-by-frame studied shots in film history.
While the Secret Service confiscated a first generation copy of his film they let him keep the original (the one he sold to Life).
He donated the first installment of his film price ($25,000) to the family of slain officer J.D. Tippit.
