Professionally, she was indistinguishable from many other young actresses of her time and was never able to break out to A or even B list stardom.
    She smoked.
She was a national baton twirling champion.
Warren Beatty told her 'You're a female version of me.'
She wrote three autobiographies: Vietnam and Me, Confessions of a Pin-Up Girl, and Blonde Bombshell.
She couldn't play Puff the Magic Dragon on her radio show because of its supposed drug connotations.
She dedicated almost her entire adult life to helping America's war vets.
Her husband, a Green Beret Army captain and Vietnam vet, committed suicide less than a year into their marriage.
    She quit smoking.
She repeatedly went to Vietnam on USO tours and with her radio program, was so popular among vets, that the Viet Cong offered a 10,000 bounty for her, was shot down twice, and had to be treated for PTSD herself.
She operated a shelter for homeless vets in Florida called Vetsville Cease Fire for decades.
She kind of made it hard to feel sorry for young female celebrities like her and her.
Despite different career paths, she's probably a lot more popular among vets than her.
She was a cheerleader for the New York Giants.
