Why he might be annoying:

He smokes.
His bodyguard was murdered in 1969.
Although popular for his French films, he did not make a successful transition to English-speaking productions.
He had a child with Andy Warhol model Nico but did not recognize his paternity.
He named his son Alain Delon, Jr.

Why he might not be annoying:

Along with Jean-Paul Belmondo, he was the top French actor of the '60s.
French director Catherine Breillat, bemoaning the current state of French cinema, said: 'We used to have actors like Alain Delon who were beautiful. But now? Gerard Depardieu and the others like him are monsters.'
He remains friends with Brigitte Bardot.
He is admired by John Woo, Quentin Tarantino and Jim Jarmusch, whose film 'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' was partly a tribute to 'Le Samurai,' starring Delon.
He worked with many legendary directors, including Luchino Visconti, Michelangelo Antonioni, Jean-Pierre Melville, Agnes Varda and Jean-Luc Godard.
