Why he might be annoying:

He crashed while leading the 1994 Indy 500 with almost a full lap lead.
His career ended after a neck injury in 1996 at the Michigan Speedway
He was involved in an automobile accident that affected his performance during the 1971 Formula 1 season.
He left the highly successful Mclaren Formula 1 Team to drive for his brother's struggling team.
At the 1993 Indy 500 he broke the winner's tradition by drinking orange juice instead of milk.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is one of the few drivers to win both a Formula 1 Championship and the Indy 500.
He was considered one of the most gracious and well-mannered drivers in racing.
He won the 1989 Indy 500 after a classic battle with Al Unser, Jr.
He rose from obscurity to clinch the 1970 Formula 1 Championship for teammate Jochen Rindt who passed away before the US Grand Prix.
