Why he might be annoying:

He moved to Switzerland to avoid involvement in World War One.
Nevertheless he was accused by some as acting as an 'agent of influence' for Germany and its allies.
He eventually abandoned his native language Romanian for French.
He regularly provoked his audiences into rioting.
    He claimed Dada meant 'nothing.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He started an influential literary magazine in his teens.
Because of Romanian anti-Semitism, he was not considered a full citizen until 1918.
His antics (such as claiming he and Jean Arp would duel) helped publicize Dadaism.
His pseudonym means 'sad in country,' a reference to the plight of Romanian Jews.
He abandoned Communism after the Soviets repressed the Hungarian uprising in 1956.
