The Resume

    Detroit union worker
Works at the Fiat-Chrysler auto plant in Detroit
Was called 'full of shit' by Joe Biden at a Michigan campaign stop during a verbal altercation about gun control (March 2020)

Why he might be annoying:

He shot a PSA for the NRA.
He got into it with Joe Biden over Beto O'Rourke's 'Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47' line when he was visiting an auto plant on the day of the Michigan primary (which he won).
The video clip going viral resulted in the Trump campaign seizing on it within hours to claim Biden is unfit to hold office (because confrontations and profanity is something the incumbent couldn't possibly be familiar with).
He and Joe Biden made the cover of the New York Post! (more accurately, it was Biden and the back of Wayne's head as he was being yelled at).
He summarized the interaction to Fox and Friends by saying that Biden 'kind of just went off the deep end.'

Why he might not be annoying:

During the heated exchange, Biden wagged his finger in his face, poked his chest, threatened to fight him, and mistakenly referred to the AR-15 rifle as 'an AR-14.'
When he told Biden 'you're working for me, man,' he shot back 'I'm not working for you! Don't be such a horse's ass!'
The video of him and Biden received over four million views and dominated the news cycle for two days before being overtaken by the global pandemic coverage.
He managed to hold his own in the argument and to stand his ground despite being verbally attacked by a Presidential candidate.
Although a defender of the Second Amendment, he is in support of background checks and better training for gun owners.
He made 'Jerry Wayne AR-14' his social media handle in the wake of attaining internet fame.
He wasn't offended by Biden's use of profanity, saying: 'In this day and age, it's a language. I'm not going to hate him for that, and I use it all the time. Most people use it all the time, and I don't think that's something to beat the guy up about.'
