The single sold over 4 million copies worldwide and became one of the best selling instrumental of all time.
His 1980 'Star Wars Christmas Album' featured a song 'R2D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas' with the lead sung by an 18-year-old unknown Jon Bongiovi - his first ever recording. Later he would take the '80s by storm as Jon Bon Jovi.
He performed a trombone solo on the 1980 Diana Ross hit single 'I'm Coming Out.'
