Screenwriter
    (1981- )
    Born in Chicago, Illinois
    American screenwriter and author
Best known for the best-seller, 'The Sherlockian' (2010)
Wrote the award-winning screenplay for 'The Imitation Game' (2014)
Also wrote for the independent short films 'Pirates and Ninjas' (2005) and 'The Waiting Room' (2008)
Won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 'Imitation Game'
He was a fan of Agatha Christie books as a kid.
He wrote for the short-lived TV series '10 Things I Hate About You' (2010).
He was described as 'the son of two lawyers who divorced and then married two other lawyers.'
He admitted to reading every Amazon review of his book 'obsessively.'
He admitted he had attempted to commit suicide as a teenager in his Oscar acceptance speech.
He has a direct line to the Obama Administration, through his mother, who was a personal assistant to Michelle Obama.
His family frequently got together and partied with Valerie Jarrett, Desiree Rogers, and the Obama family. His connection to the Obama Administration is so strong that Jarrett referred to herself as Moore's 'other mother.'
He said 'half of me wants to be this difficult, rebellious enfant terrible who is pissing everyone off and doing whatever I want to do, and the other half of me is this Jewish kid from Chicago that just wants everyone to like him and hates conflict and hates yelling...'
    He idolizes Alan Turing.
His Oscar speech resonated with teenagers, when he said 'I would like for this moment to be for that kid out there who feels like she's weird or she's different or she doesn't fit in anywhere. Yes, you do! I promise, you do! Stay weird. Stay different, and then when it's your turn and you are standing on this stage, please pass the same message along.'
He later admitted that the speech, or at least the suicide bit, was unplanned and made on the spur-of-the-moment.
HIs impromptu speech inspired the Twitter Hashtag, #StayWeirdStayDifferent.
His adapted screenplay for 'Imitation Game' topped the 2011 Blacklist for screenplays.
He received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Screenplay for 'Imitation Game.'
His debut book, 'The Sherlockian,' topped the New York Times Best Sellers list for three weeks.
He worked as a sound engineer in several heavy metal bands before turning to screenwriting.
