Why he might be annoying:

He was notoriously absent minded.
He was a bachelor who lived with his mother, until she died in her 90's.
He was awkward and shy, socially (but a great lecturer).
Factory owners use his economic theories to justify unfair treatment of workers.
He was anti labor unions.

Why he might not be annoying:

It was not known until his death that he donated most of his income secretly to charities.
His theory was that of Capitalism, in which each individual will seek 'out the most advantageous employment for whatever capital he can command.'
He pointed out that in the natural state, animals mature to be almost entirely independent, requiring almost no assistance of other living creatures.
But that man is very dependent of help from his fellow man, and should NOT expect it as a benevolent act only.
Thus if he offers something that another truly wants it is to their mutual advantage.
He said 'Give me that which I want, and you shall have this which you want.'
He was the first to explain the 'self-regulating system' at to why prices seek a level, why incomes seek a level and how society gets what it wants or needs.
His ideas brought up the concepts of 'Supply and Demand,' 'Free Market' and 'Division of Labor.'
