    The public would sometimes reverse her maiden name and surname, and she even received some letters addressed to her as Alexander Graham Bell.
    Her achievements and success were overshadowed by her husband, Billy.
    She chose to remain a Presbyterian after she married despite her husband's encouragement to become a Baptist.
    Among her various challenges of Billy's authority and decisions was a threat to divorce him if he were to end his ministry and campaign for U.S. presidency.
    She once disciplined her son Franklin for smoking by forcing him to chain-smoke a pack of cigarettes, and in another disciplinary incident locked Franklin in a car trunk.
    Among her various health issues was chronic back pain which began after she fell out of a tree in 1974.
    She spent her childhood in China and North Korea as the daughter of missionaries.
    After vowing to never marry, her attitude about marriage changed after one date with Billy Graham when she met him before he began his ministry.
    She sometimes raised her children alone while her husband was away on crusades for extended periods.
    She was active in her husband's ministries and along with him founded a children's health center (1966) and received a Congressional Gold Medal (1996).
    She had a special attraction to Asian culture throughout her life and accompanied her husband on missions to China.
    Among her leisure activities were painting and motorcycle riding.
    She began writing poetry as an emotional release while Billy was away on crusades.
    She remained upbeat when her health and vision deteriorated and left her bedridden.
    She was married to Billy for over 63 years and had five children, 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
