Sports Executive

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He is nicknamed 'Silent Stan' as a result of his refusal to do interviews or speak to the media.
Despite being a Missouri native, he became a pariah in his home state when he moved the Rams from St. Louis back to Los Angeles.
Many St. Louis residents felt his intention was to pull the Rams out of the city, when he refused to speak of his intentions and put money into upgrading the Edward Jones Dome, and making disparaging remarks about the city and fanbase in his pitch to convince the NFL to allow him to relocate the franchise.
He was able to skirt the NFL's cross-ownership rules by transferring his Denver sports franchises to his wife and children on paper.
Some sports pundits felt his heavy splurging on making the Avalanche a perennial Stanley Cup contender prior to the 2004-05 lockout contributed to the franchise's gradual decline in the years following.
His eagerness to take full control of the Rams following the death of Georgia Frontiere was made obvious as he was wanting to trigger the escape clause in the contract with the Edward Jones Dome.
He fueled further speculation of his intentions to build a stadium in Inglewood, when he told the media his intention of purchasing the land was to build a Wal-Mart Supercentre, which was later debunked when he confirmed it was for a stadium complex.
His bad toupee and moustache makes him look like a dead ringer for Uncle Rico.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was named after St. Louis Cardinals franchise legends Enos Slaughter and Stan Musial.
He made the majority of his wealth in real estate investments, prior to his involvement in pro sports.
He is married to Ann Walton, daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton.
He watched the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup and host the NHL All-Star Game in the second full season of his ownership (2000-01).
He is described as being a patient owner, who refuses to involve himself in the day-to-day operations of his franchises.
It is speculated he built a live-in penthouse suite in the Pepsi Centre on the west side of the arena that faces the Rocky Mountains.
