Why he might be annoying:

During the 1958 World Series, his batting average was an anemic .048 (1 hit in 21 at bats).
His 1964 season ended prematurely when he punched a metal dugout door.
He was known for his outspokenness as a sportscaster.
When he argued that a batter who had been hit by a pitch was justified in throwing his bat at the pitcher, Commissioner Bowie Kuhn called the network to complain.
He claims to have not watched a single Major League game since he retired from broadcasting.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has been married to Margaret Timmel for over 50 years.
Although primarily a shortstop, he played every position except pitcher and catcher during his career.
He had to be hospitalized after a ground ball took a bad hop and struck him in the throat during Game Seven of the 1960 World Series.
He criticized Bowie Kuhn for not attending the game where Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s record for most career home runs.
The Toronto Star wrote that he ‘educated a whole generation of Canadian baseball fans without being condescending or simplistic.’
