Why he might be annoying:

He killed James for the reward money.
He had already killed another gang member, Wood Hite, and had been promised a pardon from the governor if he killed James as well.
He shot James in the back while James was unarmed.
He tried to make a living by re-enacting the killing in a stage show.

Why he might not be annoying:

He received only a fraction of the promised reward.
A dance hall he ran in Colorado burned to the ground only six days after it opened (June 6, 1892).
He was shot by a gunman who believed he would be hailed as a hero for killing the man who killed Jesse James.
