Auto Racer

The Resume

    (October 15, 1993- )
    Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Full name is Bruno Senna Lalli
    Nephew of Ayrton Senna
Raced in the Formula One World Championship (2010–12)
Raced for Hispania (2010), Renault (2011), and Williams (2012)
Races for Aston Martin and Mahindra Racing in Formula E (as of 2016)
Provides commentary as a sports pundit for Channel 4 and Sky News (Sky Sports F1)

Why he might be annoying:

He pursued a racing career despite his family's objections.
His two-year run F1 stint was played out in his late uncle's shadow.
He started auto racing professionally after an almost ten-year lapse from the sport.
When he did sign with Formula One, his mother expressed concerns that the deal was a move to capitalize on her deceased brother's name.
His debut season with Hispania saw him scoring no points, feuding excessively with the team boss, and getting sacked by the end of the year.
He was being prepared for a reserve slot with the Lotus-Renault F1 team as a replacement driver for an injured teammate, but the seat eventually went to the more experienced Nick Heidfeld, instead.
He received a drive-through penalty after colliding with Jaime Alguersuari at the first corner at the Belgian Grand Prix (2011).
By the time he accumulated his first set of Formula One points in the Italian Grand Prix, his drive partner had dumped him.
He was given one final chance to prove himself F1-worthy, signing on as a Williams driver, but was dropped after giving up his car 15 times in Free Practice One for a reserve driver (the reserve driver ended up getting his slot, effectively ending Senna's time with F1).

Why he might not be annoying:

His father died in a motorcycle crash, in 1996.
He was advised professionally by Ayrton Senna’s good friend and former teammate, Gerhard Berger.
He was the Williams team's most regular point scorer.
He entered the auto racing sport with significantly higher expectations than would be normal for a beginner.
This may have been due to the fairly common knowledge that Ayrton had been mentoring him from an early age, intent on molding him as a protege.
Case in point: a year prior to his death, Ayrton had bragged to reporters ‘If you think I'm fast, just wait until you see my nephew Bruno!’
He was passed over by Brawn GP for Jenson Button’s drive partner in favor of Rubens Barrichello, despite outperforming him in the test run.
The color-scheme of his helmet is a modified version of that used by his uncle.
Its fair to say that – based on available footage of the two – Ayrton acted as his surrogate older brother (and with no kids of his own, he talked Bruno up like he was his own).
