Why they might be annoying:

They're blatant atheists who throw their beliefs in the face of others just like the Christian groups they oppose.
They let Paz leave the band to join Billy Corgan's Zwan.
The band was originally formed to solely provide 'weird' music for 'weird' movies.
After their debut album was released they appeared on Jay Leno, Craig Kilborn and Conan O'Brien's shows, doing more publicity in a few months than all their previous bands had ever done combined.
It's mistakenly considered as 'Maynard's side project.'

Why they might not be annoying:

The band is the brainchild of Billy Howerdel's who was a guitar technician for Tool and Nine Inch Nails.
The band features/featured current and former members of Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age and Marilyn Manson.
Their combined range as musicians is second to none.
