Allegedly kidnapped and murdered Charles Lindbergh's 20 month old son (1932)
Put on trial for the murder in what was called the 'trial of the century' (1935)
Put to death by electrocution (1936)

Why he might be annoying:

He fought the Allies during World War I.
In Germany, he burglarized three homes and robbed two people at gunpoint.
He was put in a German prison for four years for robbery.
He illegally entered the United States with a disguise and stolen ID card (November 1923).
He probably abducted Charles Lindbergh's baby boy from his crib in his room and demanded a $50,000 ransom for his return (March 1, 1932).
Lindbergh paid the ransom, but Hauptmann killed the baby anyway.
The dead body of Lindbergh's son was discovered dumped off and forgotten on May 12, 1932.
He was arrested for the murder after the ransom money was discovered in his possession.
He seemed unremorseful for his crimes during his trial.

Why he might not be annoying:

His brothers died in World War I.
Some people claim his innocence to this day.
He was portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in the 1976 movie 'The Lindbergh Kidnapping Trial.'
He is dead.
