Why she might be annoying:

During her first performance, in a Christmas pantomime, she ticked off the management by catching measles, then spreading it to half the cast (1929).
She said about being known by the childhood nickname Googie, 'My real name sounds even crazier. I was christened Georgette Lizette!'
The producers of Coronation Street had to apologize after a character declared, 'Googie Withers would turn in her grave.' (2004)

Why she might not be annoying:

In a show biz cliche come to life, she got her big break when she showed up to be an extra in 'The Girl in the Crowd' just after director Michael Powell had fired the second female lead and he immediately offered her the role.
While entertaining British troops in Antwerp during World War II, she narrowly escaped death when the theater where she had been performing was struck by a V2 rocket minutes after she left.
She was dubbed 'The best bad girl in British films.'
She was married to actor/producer John McCallum for 62 years until his death.
