Vocalist
    (June 1, 1915-June 12, 1978)
    Born in Enville, Oklahoma
Birth name is Cyrus Whitfield Bond
Singles include ‘Divorce Me C.O.D. (1947),’ ‘Ten Little Bottles (1951, 1965)’ and ‘Hot Rod Lincoln (1960)’
Host/writer for ‘Town Hall Party’ (began 1952)
Country Music Hall of Fame (1999) and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame
His career with Jimmy Wakely and Scotty Harrell included recording for two labels simultaneously, under two different monikers.
Much of his mid-60s/late-60s material centered around drinking songs.
He was a B-western mainstay, sometimes as a singing cowboy.
He was the first of the Bond-Wakely-Harrell triad to receive a solo recording contract.
His acoustic guitar style was a characteristic of Gene Autry material.
Unlike his fellows in the industry, he was not particularly bothered by the advent of rock ’n roll. In fact, he was willing to embrace the new sound.
With Tex Ritter as partner, he was part of a music publishing business.
