Murderer (Alleged)

The Resume

    (1998- )
    Resident of Palo Verdes Estates
Joined the Rollin' 90s Neighborhood Crips, a South-L.A. gang
Was the driver when two teen gang members shot and killed Justin Holmes, a 21-year-old U-Haul employee (October 1, 2017)
    Charged with murder
Found not guilty (July 23, 2018)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a rich white kid from the suburbs who joined an inner city gang.
    He got a gang tattoo.
The night of Holmes' murder, he filmed himself throwing gang signs.
His acquittal led to charges that he had benefited from white privilege.
His attorney, Javon Blacknell, who is black, said, 'He wasn't set free because he was white,' but conceded, 'I do think that the jurors gave him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think all minorities get that.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He managed to finish high school while on trial.
His attorney claimed that he thought that he and the other gang members would be tagging buildings with gang-related graffiti: 'He didn't expect any of this to happen. He didn't know the boys had guns.'
Some black defendants in similar circumstances have also been found not guilty: for example, Semaj Welch, the driver in a car-to-car shooting at a L.A. intersection that resulted in the death of Patricia Alfaro (2014).
Blacknell's response to arguments that his client got a break that minorities would not: 'The answer to their problem isn't for the system to treat Cameron wrong. It should be for the system to treat Latino and minority clients better.'
