Why he might be annoying:

He originally intended to be an artist until his brother convinced him that the work he had created was 'really boring.'
He did not even pick up a camera until his late-20s, and basically fell into the profession by accident: 'A photographer's assistant position came up through a friend. If there had been another job, I would have become something else.'
Despite the distinctive appearance of his photos, he insisted, 'I don't have a style and I try not to have one.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was honored for his contributions to AIDS awareness at the amfAR New York Gala (2014)
His cover shoot for the British edition of Vogue (January, 1990 issue), bringing together Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Tatjana Patitz, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington, has often been called the start of the supermodel era.
Donna Karan said his work 'is always somthing more than just a fashion picture. In a single image, you feel you really know that person.'
