Why Deadliest Catch might be annoying:

Crew members are often seen with cigarettes dangling from thier mouths while below deck.
The show's theme song is Bon Jovi's 'Dead or Alive,' a song that has nothing to do with fishing, and implies that dead crab will be brought back to port and sold to the public.
A cameraman once told Captain Jeff Weeks that there was a penguin on deck (Penguins are in the Antarctic, not the Bering Sea).
Many crew members have centuries old superstitions they follow.
Captain Peter Liske is a bible thumping Jesus freak who forces his crew to join hands and pray.
Captain Liske also disciplines his children over a two-way radio while at sea.
Captain Rick Quashnick brings his wife Donna along for the season.
The boats Vixen and Retriever were largely left out of the series.
Crew members and Captains get excited at seeing 'Green Mud' on crabs.

Why Deadliest Catch might not be annoying:

The show chronicles what is considered the most dangerous job on the planet.
Boats and crews face freezing water, 20-30 foot waves, gale force winds, 20 hour shifts on deck, and up to a two hour wait for help if needed, all to bring you some good eatin'.
It is widely critically acclaimed as a fresh break from the typical reality show.
Boats will break off from their fishing grounds and immediately respond to the report of a boat or crew member in distress if they are a reasonable distance away.
The roots of the show stem from a short segment on the Discovery Channel's 'The Ten Most Dangerous Jobs.'
The segment then evolved into a one hour show following the ship 'Fierce Allegiance,' then into a 10 episode series.
Captain Quashnic's wife Donna is considered by the crew of the Maverick to be the 'Boat Mother.' She cooks fresh meals, cleans up after the crew, and occasionally helps on deck.
Captain Liske never forgets to include the camera crew in his forced prayers.
