    Appeared in the film 'Rockers' (1978) and the documentary 'Land of Look Behind' (1982)
    He was addicted to crack and dealt drugs.
    He was reportedly arrested over 50 times.
    Drug abuse caused most of his teeth to fall out, with negative consequences for his singing.
    Thanks in part to endless repackaging of material, his discography extends to a mind-numbing 500+ albums.
    His musical idols growing up were Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye.
    His single 'My Only Lover' is considered the first hit in the 'lovers rock' genre of reggae.
    Suggs from the band Madness said he was 'one of the most sartorially elegant stars on the world stage.'
    The New York Times called him 'the most exquisite vocalist in reggae.'
