Why they might be annoying:

    They were one-hit wonders.
After their one hit, all the band members but Allen left and were replaced.
Schwartz got them banned from Canada after admitting his past drug use to customs officials.
They took their name from a utility company.
After complaints from the utility, they shortened their name to PG&E.

Why they might not be annoying:

Schwartz had been in the James Gang and Cook had been in Canned Heat.
’Are You Ready?’ hit the pop Top 20 and the R&B Top 50.
They appeared in the Otto Preminger film ‘Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon.’
During a concert in Raleigh, North Carolina, they were taunted with racial insults; after the show, their van was fired on. Four bullets hit the vehicle, but no one was hurt (April 25, 1970).
