Directed the TV series 'Alive From Off Center'

Why he might be annoying:

He was a publicist and a film critic before becoming a director.
He argued with Goldie Hawn constantly on the set of 'Swing Shift.'
He found Anthony Hopkins' fast slurping sound improvisation in 'The Silence of the Lambs' annoying.
His nephew, Ted Demme, died of a cocaine induced thrombotic heart attack (accidental).
One of his early films titled 'Handle with Care' did so poorly at the box office that it was shown for free in a New York theater, and was still a huge disappointment.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won a Best Director Oscar in 1992 for 'The Silence of the Lambs.'
He won a DGA for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in 1992 for 'The Silence of the Lambs.'
He was voted the 45th Greatest Director of all time by Entertainment Weekly.
He often works with the same groups of film makers on each of his films.
He is generous towards promoting young film makers; most notably devoting his Oscar acceptance speech to speaking about young directors at the time.
