Why he might be annoying:

He has had several major roles in high profile/big budget films but never managed to go mainstream.
Decent dramatic roles in prestigious films eluded him throughout his career and so he will always be remembered as the rebellious B-movie character actor of the 70s and 80s.
Even after 50 years of acting and now possessing a fairly high profile, he still appears mostly in low budget B-movies.

Why he might not be annoying:

While only a star in B-movies, he still managed to carve himself an impressive career in the industry with well over 120 film roles in his filmography.
Despite working largely unnoticed for a large portion of his career he has since become a cult icon and is well respected in the industry.
He made a guest appearance on virtually every major TV series of the 70s and 80s (totalling nearly 250 appearances).
He won a Most Promising Newcomer Golden Globe in 1958.
He has a black belt in karate.
